Monday, Monday

The weekend went by so fast and now it's already Monday again. We both worked on Saturday and I just didn't feel very well. I worried that I was getting a cold, but I think it was just allergy related. Woke up Sunday and was feeling much better. Thomas went to play golf Sunday morning and I did some chores around the house. That afternoon, we watched the Cowboys game and went walking around the neighborhood. It was a lazy, relaxing day.

Thomas left this morning for San Antonio and won't be back until Wednesday night. He hates it when I say this, but I love being home alone for a few days!

Today is my adoption update day. They have announced referrals for log ins through February 9. Our log in is March 29, so a tiny bit closer. We're still waiting.

Enjoy the day,
Deana

A good mail day...

I walked outside today to check the mail and noticed two huge boxes on the doorstep. I pulled them inside and even though they were addressed to Thomas, I ripped them open and dug inside. Guess what it was?

One was full of paper towels and the other toilet paper! Jackpot!

Thomas does a lot of food shows all over the southern half of the U.S. He meets other sales reps and we end up with fun and sometimes yummy things when he gets home from a trip. Or like today, we find big boxes in the mail. Oh, and while I'm typing this the Fed-Ex guy just dropped off another box! This one full of disposable cups and bowls.

Right now my kitchen table is full of goodies from his last two food shows. We dumped it all out to drool and sort. I'm going to take some to work and we might save some for Christmas stocking stuffers. Come by and visit us, we'll hook you up with a bag of goodies too!

Early Morning Outing

When Thomas asked me yesterday after work if I wanted to get up at the crack of dawn this morning to go to the Plano Balloon Festival, I said, "Sure, sounds fun." But when the alarm went off at 4:30 am I was quite the grump bunny! We did get up and when we arrived at the festival around 6:30 it was still a little dark.

We stopped at Starbucks for coffee and brought a couple of camping chairs to enjoy while we watched them inflate the balloons.

The balloons were amazing and beautiful and I'm really glad we got up and around this morning to enjoy them.

This daisy balloon was my favorite!

Now it's time for a little nap!

Happy Hump Day

I came home from work today and found this cutie waiting for me:

Thomas isn't home from Abilene yet, so I'm off to scrapbook for a few hours!

Enjoy your night,

Home Sweet Home

It was quite a vacation in Virginia and it was a bigger adventure trying to get there! Thomas took me to the airport early Wednesday morning and traffic was extremely bad. My plane was leaving at 9:05 and we were just entering the airport tollway at 8:20. I said a prayer that I would at least get to my gate at 8:30. We pulled up at 8:31 and I attempted to check my bag at the curb. The attendant said, "Sorry, you're too late for curbside check in." I raced up the escalator and headed straight for the check in desk. The attendant there was very nice, but told me that I was TOO LATE to check a bag. I could not believe this. She punches in on her computer and says there's another flight this afternoon, but then makes a call and asks the boarding crew if I can carry on my bag. They agree IF I could get the bag through security. The attendant looks at my bag and says, "I'm not even sure if it will fit into the x-ray machine." Then, she asks me the dreaded question. Do I have any liquids in my bag? Well, of course I do...that's why I wanted to check the bag. We open the suitcase and I pull out my Ziploc bag as she is spouting off regulations about 3 oz or less. I grab a few hair products, which are clearly over the limit, and ask her to throw them away. Then I see my full size Mary Kay cleanser and I almost start to cry as I hand it over. It also, goes into the trash. We zip up the suitcase and head over to the security area. The bag just barely fit and I was on my way.

I rode the subway into Washington D.C. and spent the day walking around the Smithsonian and the Washington Monument. It happened to be September 11 and noticed a lot of the monuments were closed and the flags were all at half-staff. It was a beautiful place and so much to see that I really needed another day.

My friend drove us up to the Dahlgren naval base which is right off the Potomac River. I saw this bridge going across the river which turned out to be the Harry W Nice Memorial Bridge leading to Maryland. We drove over and stopped at the visitor center so I could say that I've been to Maryland.

I also went to two of my favorite stores! Dottie's Den, a very nice gift shop and Scrapdoodles!

It was a great trip, but I am glad to be home. Back to work and my regular routine tomorrow!

I'm all packed

I spent the afternoon ironing and packing my suitcase, with the help of KittyBitty, of course. She always knows when I'm leaving and I could tell she wasn't very happy about that. My flight leaves in the morning and I'm excited about getting away for a few days.

The Bad Girls - Top Designer Contest started monday and I finished my entry for week one today. I browsed through the other entries and they are simply amazing! I hope to at least make it through the first round. Here's mine:

See you Sunday,

Sunday's results

We did watch football most of the day on Sunday. Our Cowboys won! Nikki and I did some scrapbooking too.

Ahhh, sweet vacation

I am officially on my week long vacation as of 6:01 pm today! It's going to be a great, relaxing week. Tomorrow, Nikki is coming over for football and lunch. (Both her and Thomas love the fantasy football leagues....I'd rather be scrapbooking.) Monday is "organize it" day with the main focus being my closet and kitchen cabinets. Ask me later if this actually gets done! Wednesday, I leave for Virginia for a few days. Going to spend time with some friends and see the sights. Thomas is traveling for work most of the week.

KittyBitty is doing so much better. We had her feeding tube taken out this past Wednesday and she is back to her old self again. She's eating too! She has a staple in her neck that has to be taken out this week. The vet recommended that we stop by and pick up the staple remover and take it out ourselves. Yeow! Otherwise, we have to put her asleep to have it done. We'll see how that goes.

Enjoy the weekend,
Deana

Labor of Love

For Labor Day, Thomas came to my work and cooked sausage for the entire Sears team! He's such a sweetheart.

The bratwurst and Italian sausage were a big hit!

I'm off tomorrow, FINALLY, after working the past 6 straight days. It has been a tough week and I'm so behind on my housework and scrapbooking. I look forward to catching up...plus, I'm going to get ready for this. Exciting!!
