Scrap Happy

It's hard to believe we've been in our house for 5 years already. The time just seems to fly by lately. We took this pic in the same place that we took it 5 years ago. See the difference in that little tree?!

Loved this deer paper from American Craft! So cute!

Lastly, a little card with my scraps.

Enjoy your Monday,

Busy Weekend

It's been a super busy weekend. It sure felt good to sleep late and relax today. Thomas finally made it home from OK and spent his last two nights (until next year) cooking at the North Texas State Fair. He's been exhausted having to work two jobs. Although I keep telling him that his temporary 2 jobs equal my one job!

Friday night I attended a crop in Hurst and met several nice ladies, some of whom are opening a brand new scrapbook store in the area called Anthologies. I didn't know when I signed up, but all the money given to attend the crop was going to the church. I thought that was very nice and I felt good about supporting. Plus, I was able to complete a couple of layouts and a cute card!

Last night I met my BFF's Jamye and Beverly for the Chris Cagle concert in Fort Worth. Jayme's daughter also joined us...you know you're getting old when your best friend's daughter is old enough to join us! It's a tradition for us to meet for tacos and beer as this is our third...maybe fourth time to see Cagle in concert. I just wish I had remembered to bring my camera. /sad face

I'll share my new layouts tomorrow. Hope your weekend was great!

Oo la la

T is working in Oklahoma City for a few days and while there he went on a Diet Red Mountain Dew search. (Diet Red is my favorite soft drink that isn't made in Texas any longer.) I love when he has to work up there...that means we get to stock up!

He found something new on this trip. Diet Mountain Dew Ultra Violet!

Evidently, it's a limited edition flavor for Diet Dew, only available for 10 weeks, from August 10-October 19. Plus, there's no regular version of it...only the diet.

I'm excited!

Enjoy the weekend,
Deana

Project Wednesday

I had lots to get done today and I happily crossed off everything on my list! My biggest project for today was a closet face lift. It turned out rather nice, if I don't say so myself.

I also....

* finished proof reading our home study that we finally got back from the case worker. It's going into the mail tomorrow with our I-600a.

* made a batch of cookies for the State Fair competition. Sadly, they were terrible and immediately got dropped into the trash can.

* cleaned the Nook and packed my scrap tote with some projects to work on at a crop this Friday night. I haven't gone to a crop in quite awhile, so I'm super excited!

Hope your day was just as productive!

It's okay...

The stork has landed for a few others, but our Ladybug's arrival is still forthcoming. The CCAA has give referrals through a log in date of March 24, 2006 which was only a two day referral batch this time. As you know, our log in date is March 29, 2006. 5 more days! (2 of those are weekend days)

I'm feeling frustrated and tired of waiting. It was so much easier to wait when we were so far away from our goal. Oh, and we were so much younger 4 years ago when we began this process! I expressed my concern to my parents last weekend that I almost feel too old to "have" a child. I look at facebook and see all my friends and old school-mates that have almost grown children while we're just now getting started. This isn't how I thought everything would turn out, but I do know that Ladybug is out there on the other side of the world waiting for me. Then I get excited about what's coming! And it's okay....

It's okay to be impatient.

It's okay to be nervous.

It's okay to be unconventional.

Look who I met...

I went by to meet Tracy Lawrence after work yesterday and get his new CD autographed. He was in Hurst just about a mile from where I work so I couldn't pass up this chance. I listened to the new CD on the way home and it's fabulous...very country gospel. I think my favorite song is "I Know Where Heaven Is."

I never dreamed I'd see anyone that I knew, but after I jumped in line I looked up and in front of me was one of the girls that I worked with at Macy's. She's a Cagle-head...every time I've been to see Chris Cagle in concert (about 3 times so far) she's been there! I said, "Are we going to see Cagle on the 29th?" She excitedly said, "Of course, I already have my front row tickets." We had fun catching up. The only problem was that I couldn't remember her name and I was too embarrassed to tell her!

Happy Friday!

It's tax free weekend!

From the garden

I fell in love with these crochet flowers on Nichole Heady's blog. Unfortunately, I have never crocheted but Nikki learned from our sweet Nanny! She made a few for me this past weekend...while we were hanging out watching Lost mostly.

Thomas is out of town again and I ended up watching 2 episodes without him. He'll be able to catch up easily since I'll be focused on something else tomorrow night.

I'm finally Tagged~

My parents are headed here for the weekend. Thomas is at work and then headed to the Rangers game tonight for more birthday fun. I heard he's in an air-conditioned suite with a buffet. Snazzy.

Is it funny that the first thing I did this morning, before my mom arrived, was run an errand to renew my car tag?

She always notices these little things. Probably because a few years back when I was in college, I came home for a weekend and she freaked out that it was a few months expired. It's true.

This time it was only a month over due. Thomas has been nagging me for 2 weeks to go renew it.

I waited until today...before my mom arrived.

Cause she'd notice.

The big 3-9

The birthday boy turns 39 today!

We're going to celebrate tonight and more than likely...all weekend long!

Happy Birthday Thomas! <3

Sunny Sunday

We got up early this morning and met Nikki and Mike & Lori for brunch at Blue Mesa. Thomas enjoyed it just like we told him he would, so we definitely have a new go-to place.

Nothing much going on today, Thomas is watching TV and Cricket is currently nibbling on my toes. We have been watching the Lost seasons on DVD and are currently in the middle of season 2. Great show, we're trying to get them all watched before the new season comes back on this fall.

It's been nice to be off together on the same day for a change.

Thomas' birthday is this thursday, the big 39! Yep, he's getting on up there! I've got to make some plans for his big day, and fast.

Break time is over, I'm going back to Lost. *waves*

More Scrappy

Here's my layout celebrating Lady Bug's room finally being finished. We waited a long time to put those finishing touches in her room.

Happy Friday, hope it's a great start to the weekend!

Scrappy stuff

Here's a new layout using my July Cocoa Daisy kit. There's a prompt every day this month to scrap about yourself...and then you'll end up with a "Book of Me." I'm hosting today's prompt about being a reader. Perhaps some of us aren't readers, but love magazines, or dive into the comics first when reading the newspaper every Sunday. Which are you?

I'm definitely a reader and always have a nightstand piled high with books.

Fly babies fly

Our little baby birds are already grown up. I'm afraid they are about to fly the coop any day now.

Aren't they prettier with their feathers?

Big Tex loves cookies

Last fall when we went to the state fair, we enjoyed walking through the arts and crafts area. We spent much of our time watching a cooking demonstration and browsing the many cooking competitions. At that time I said to Nikki, "We should enter a baking contest!"

Guess what arrived in the mail? Our official State Fair of Texas Competition Handbook! I've studied the rules. We're definitely entering and will be practicing our recipes in the upcoming weeks. My entry will be in the no bake cookie contest. Chef Nikki will be coming up with something completely extravagant, I'm sure. It'll be fun!

Wish us luck!

In Love

I love, love, love this chandelier.

This little gem would be so fabulous in the nook.

Found it at Urban Outfitters.

The case of the missing mixer

I don't cook.

I know how to cook and I could very well be a great cook.

I just choose to not cook.

Is this karma playing a joke on me and leaving a set of beaters in my kitchen drawer without a mixer to attach them to?

I tore my kitchen apart looking for it...seems so strange that it would disappear.

Perhaps it's just crazy that I actually wanted to bake today. At least I found a whisk...it worked nicely.

Oh yeah, they are yummy-delicious. Taking them to work tomorrow to share with my boys.
