25 Months = 2 Years + 1 Month
*Ladybug has learned that she doesn't get picked up until she says "up." (Previously, it was whining with her arms held up in front of us.) I am noticing that she is trying other words to get what she wants, for example at the store while riding in the buggy she said "walk." Try explaining to a 2 year old that she can walk after we pay...that's a tough one.
*She's really latched onto saying bye especially when one of us is leaving for work. But she's also learning that it can mean just going into another room and she'll say bye with a little wave. My favorite is when we're out and about and she sees something she knows. The conversation goes something like this, "Bird" as she's pointing to the bird, "Bye bird." Or fork, bye fork.
*She'll now try to say anything that you ask her to say. Sometimes we recognize it and sometimes not. She loves doing flash cards and saying what the pictures are. She also enjoys pulling out her basket of food and going through each piece naming them with a little nyom, nyom, nyom as she pretends to eat it. Oh, and she loves naming and pointing to all her body parts too.
*The temper-tantrum-twos have begun and it's crazy that most of them are just over the smallest little things. She definitely gets a little moody when something doesn't go the way she wants it to.
*Her love of music keeps growing and growing. She's learning more songs and will now sing along to several. Row, Row, Row your Boat is her current favorite and she'd prefer to sing that one all by herself. (When you try to join in she'll stop and say "no way."
*Ladybug is learning to undress herself, yikes. Three times this week at wake up time, her jammies were unzipped at least halfway.
*We are still waiting for her little hair to grow and it's almost to where we can put it all in one little ponytail. She weighs 24.5 pounds and is wearing 18-24 months clothing, size 3 diapers, and size 4 shoes.
You can see last month's chair photo here. I think her hair's a little bit longer.

Watch~
G-dad showed Bug how to fold a piece of scrap paper into an airplane. He held it up high and said to Bug "watch...watch" as he sailed it into the air.
When it was her turn to fly...we laughed as she said "watch...watch" before letting go.
Love, love, love how when it's over, she claps and yells "Yay."
We pick it up off the floor and hand it back to her over and over again.

Random Thoughts
*My washer decided to go out and she's only 3 years old! I certainly don't want to spend any more time at the laundromat...but I'm afraid another visit is in my future. The repairman can't be here for a whole week.
*Ladybug has decided that she doesn't like to take a bath any more. She'll practically throw a little tantrum complete with screaming and crying. When I lift her up to set her in the tub, she'll have jelly legs or will hold them straight down to keep from having to go in. This has occurred for three of the past four nights. (The one night it didn't happen was because I didn't even attempt the bath on Sunday night.) I have no idea why she's being like this.
*T is shopping for a new vehicle and test drove a mini van last week. I can't imagine us being a mini van family. Aren't we too young and hip for a mini van? I like to think so.
*The latest novel in the Earth's Children series by Jean M. Auel came out today! I've already downloaded it onto my kindle. This series is a great read and I've waited a long time for a sequel!
*Our garage sale this past Saturday did really well and the best selling items were the children's shoes and toys. It was fun and we enjoyed just hanging around outside all day. The leftovers are already boxed up and donated to Goodwill.
*I'm starting to see some bluebonnets!

Booty Bump
Now that Bug's been sneaking past the Sing-a-ma-jig and up the stairs with no fear, we decided to teach her how to get down the stairs...safely.
We taught her the Booty Bump!

No Okay = Yes
I have noticed a big difference in Ladybug when doing chores in the laundry room or kitchen. She really wants to be up and watching the action. When I say up, what I really mean is she wants to be held! She loves knowing what is going on. That might sound like someone else you know. /whistle
If I'm lucky, she'll play with this birthday present.... the Leap Frog Fridge Magnets. They capture her attention for a little while we're cooking some nights. She's not singing along with the ABC song that it plays yet, but I have heard her humming along.
Two word sentences are finally happening! She said, "Hi Mama" today and yesterday she started saying, "No okay."
Obviously when she says no, I need to say yes instead of okay. Oops.

Gamer Chick
Bug has always been a "techy girl." She can hone in on a remote control or cell phone if you turn your head for even a moment. She also loves any toys that have buttons and make sounds. If it looks like a computer or cell phone, that's even better!
She's perhaps a little too young for her own Nintendo DS....but she has one of our old ones. She loves to turn it on and "play" with it. My friend Lori gave her a Kai-Lan DS game for her birthday. One day I watched her scratching on the screen saying "tickle, tickle, tickle." If you watch the show, you know that Kai-Lan tickles the sun! That's exactly what she was doing. I highly recommend the game. She can do some stuff on her own and we play it together too.
She's going to be a gamer chick and I think that's cool.

Is it odd that I name the toys?
Ladybug has a pitcher full of little bath tub squirt toys but she's been bored with them lately and not staying in the bath as long as she used to. (Is that a 2 thing?) I thought it would be a great idea to pick up a couple of interactive tub toys that were more age appropriate...and uh, more exciting.
Meet this little guy.
His name is Eddie and he swims along with his little brother Max. Well, after you wind him up, of course.
I introduced Bug to Eddie and Max last night and she was not very happy about them invading her bath. She wailed and cried those big crocodile tears and was quite frightened of cute little Eddie. Max heard all the commotion and immediately hid underneath a nearby washcloth.
Bath time was certainly over after all of that...and now I'm worried about showing her the cute little pink boat with Princess Blueberry on board!
It even makes sounds!

At 2 Years Old
I know, I know...I'm a week late on my monthly chair photo. But as you can see we had a busy weekend with the best Ladybug Birthday Party ever. I didn't forget to take the picture, I just haven't had time to share it with you.
* She is walking the sidewalk front steps (there's just 2) with her feet and all by herself now. And she wants to practice going up and down them anytime she's outside.
* She has learned so many new words that I can't even begin to list them anymore. I will say that a few of my favorites are: home, outside, and purple. Sometimes she will say a word over and over 12 times and I still can't decipher what she's trying to say! But I'm trying to get better at this Bugspeak.
* One day I noticed her prop her leg up on the side bar of the crib, kind of like a ballerina. I said to myself, "She's about to climb out of there. We need to watch her." The next day guess what happened? Coco was walking up the stairs and heard this loud THUMP. When she walked in Bug's room, she was just standing there on the floor on her feet looking a little surprised and frightened. We don't know how, but she had climbed out of there.
* She'll say "cheese" when we try to take her picture...and stop and pose if she's in the mood.
* Loves to play in her kitchen and sit at the little table with her dolls to serve tea. LOVES to push the little doll stroller around.
* I've learned that I can let her go outside into the backyard to play while I leave the door open and work in the kitchen. Candy Kitty goes out there with her, it's so cute.
* 24.3 pounds
* Size 3 diapers
* Size 4 shoes
* 18 months clothing is on the way out, 24 months for spring
You can see last month's chair photo here.
p.s. She's still sleeping in the crib. T lowered the mattress all the way down so we feel like we are good for a few more months.
