My photo of the day

Thomas had left this envelope on the kitchen table. It's funny to me that his boss and co-workers call him T-bone.

Have a great weekend,

All work and no Play

It was a long, busy holiday work weekend. I had hoped things would be nice and quiet on Tuesday, but we were super busy then too. Work seems to have its ups and downs with me and right now it's down. My stress is back and I have so many deadlines to meet that I'm sick about it. I'm going to be working another 65 hour week...at least...could possibly be more.

Today I was off (and felt guilty about it) so I moped around about work being the pits and then decided to play in the scrapbook nook. I started an adoption scrapbook over 3 years ago, but then set it aside since we were waiting so long. I pulled it back out today and made this layout. It's also for the Cocoa Daisy Scraplift Contest for May.

If you look at it closer, you can see the photos we had to include with our application. They wanted to see pictures of our families and we also included one of KittyBitty.

Referrals! and Ladybug's Room

I am excited to report that baby referrals were given to those family with log in dates of March 9 through March 14! They announced 6 days and since our log in date is March 29....we just have to wait for 15 more days to be announced before we get to our little ladybug's referral!

Ladybug's room is finally finished. My sweet cousin Angie gave me the girly crib bedding, love it. The little wooden rocking chair was mine from when I was a baby. My nanny made the Raggedy Ann dolls, miss her so much. Oh, and the little step stool was made from one of Mom's friends, Jill. It was a graduation present...she made it and put the graduation announcement on top. I can't wait for Ladybug to use it to brush her teeth at the sink every night.

Thomas ran across a vendor in Chicago on the sidewalk doing Chinese drawings and he had this one made. It's her name in Chinese with some cute little flowers. This drawing is one of my favorite things.

I also love this little twin bed with the princess bedding.

Here's a close up of the painting. It says "May who you truly are, be known to all."

We're ready! Now if those referrals would just hurry up!

The Cat's IN the Bag

What is it about cats and how they love to climb into any sort of box, bag or container just because they can? Princess Bella had crawled inside this bag that I left on the table and then curled up for a little cat nap.

She seems out of sorts with Thomas being out of town all week. I picked him up from the airport last night at 12:30, err that's actually this morning though isn't it? He repacked his suitcase, slept for a few hours and then woke me up around 5:00 am and said he was on his way to Hot Springs. He's having one of those busy work weeks instead of me, for a change.

Not having enough sleep in the morning, leads me to stop for coffee. I'm completely addicted to these new hot coffees from McDonald's. They are yummy! Bonus: they are about a dollar cheaper than Starbucks and much larger.

I haven't done a lot of scrap pages this week. Mainly because I'm still waiting on my May Cocoa Daisy kit. Evidently, it's lost in the mail system. /cry I went by the post office today to talk to them about it, which was a complete waste of time. So, until it arrives I'll just do a few older pictures that I like. These were taken with Thomas' family down in Temple.

Hope you're gearing up for the holiday weekend. You'll know where to find me ...... at work.

To die for Chocolate Cake

I felt like trying something new yesterday so I baked. This chocolate cake recipe is from a friend at work, it's so easy and delicious! The icing melts in your mouth.

2 cups sugar

In sauce pan melt the following:

2 sticks butter
1 cup water
4 Tbsp cocoa
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon

Add to the sugar/flour mixture and then bake in sheet pan at 350 for about 35 minutes.

Icing:

1 stick butter, melted
4 Tbsp cocoa
6 Tbsp milk
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans

Refrigerator Bling

Everything needs a little bling! My photo taken yesterday for Project 365. My bling was inspired by Aunt Doris who pioneered the fine art of fridge bling.

Scrap-happy

A few days off and I haven't been as productive as I would have liked. I'm feeling very guilty about that. But I did complete this page with my Cocoa Daisy April Kit. Come on May Kit, I'm waiting for you to arrive!

Thomas leaves for Chicago on Friday for a week so tonight is laundry night. Nothing like waiting until the last minute!

Last night we watched the 3 hour finale of Biggest Loser and during every commercial break, we jumped up and did chores during the commercials. (unloaded the dishwasher, made the bed, folded some blankets to put away for the summer) Towards the end of the show Thomas would jump up before me and yell, "What's next?" I was running out of things for us to do! Ha.

Things I Learned from My Mother

Thanks Mom! Happy Mother's Day!

1. When someone offers you a piece of gum or a mint, always take it. You probably need it.

2. Always send thank you notes. Always...even if they are late.

3. It's okay to cook the same dishes every holiday - just call it tradition.

4. When your spouse points at something, ignore him until he asks nicely.

5. Give to others and expect nothing in return.

6. It's okay to pamper yourself.

7. Always purchase something from kids who come around doing fundraising.

8. Hide things about money and keep a secret stash in your wallet.

9. Friends are precious.

10. You don't have to share everything - like popcorn.

It's also my little sister's birthday today! We're celebrating double duty with Mom AND a birthday cake. Happy Birthday chick!

Cha-ching!

We had a really great garage sale today! The weather was cool at 7:00 am when we opened our doors and there was a flood of people stopping by all day. But then the angry storm blew in and we had to close up shop. We raked in $700 before the rain though! Woot!

After our sale we had planned on going to see the new Star Trek movie, but after venturing out in the rain we noticed all the streets were extremely flooded. We decided to stay in town for dinner and rent a movie instead.

Everyone's tired, so I suspect we'll turn in early tonight.

Loaded up and ready to roll

It has been an exhausting week. I have seriously worked 62 hours the last 6 days. Pushing that aside, we are loaded up and headed to New Boston for the weekend. Tomorrow is our long awaited garage sale!

Here's to nice, sunny weather and lots of sales!

Hope your weekend is great!

This past week

What is going on with the weather this week? It has been dark and overcast all week and then today I think it has rained all day. Really rained, pouring down-thunder-and-lightning rained! We even heard hail falling on the roof, and looked outside and saw green pea sized hail. We're safe and sound in our little house and I think most of the storm has finally blown over. Thank you Lord.

Sadly, found this in the mailbox.

Also, found some sweet little roses on the bush we planted last fall in her memory.

Still working on my scrappy-mess and we're down to only one more week until the garage sale. Princess Bella tries to be helpful.~
