Making Music

Ladybug loves her music and instruments and singing along. Whenever she's watching her favorite show "Jack's Big Music Show" she'll grab her flute and play along. She is becoming more and more interactive every day.

On Sunday, we dropped by this really neat toy store and it was no surprise that Bug went straight for this little piano that was exactly her size. Notice how she can't sit still...she's definitely about to turn two!

So fun, wish we could have brought it home with us!

Cake Face

Taken with cell phone while enjoying yummy cupcakes. I'm pretty sure she dove face first into that one.

Happy Weekend,

Almost 2

One week to go!

I am loving the Studio Calico kits, they are happiness in a box. I also used some of my new Stampin' Up punches and stamps, they are to die for!

Coco and I are having a workshop at my house on February 23 at 7:00. We'll be making 2 cards for you to take home and we'll enjoy some skinny margaritas and cupcakes. Join us! We can drool over all the new products together!

Our Day

7:45 Peeked inside Bug's room to see if she was awake and her Mama radar come into full alert as her head popped up from her pillow. She was rip-snorting-n-raring to go! We go downstairs for oatmeal and snuggle time as we usually do, sitting together on the couch for breakfast. Jack's Big Music Show is on and it's my favorite episode "Laurie's Big Song."

9:30 Getting both of us dressed to head out the door and Bug wants to brush her teeth. I've learned this is the best chance I have at fixing her hair to get those pony tails straight! Success! .....well almost.

10:05 We walk into the little tax office to pay for T's car tags and the lady gushes and gushes over Ladybug. She almost jumps over the counter to have a conversation with her...Bug does not disappoint and proceeds to tell her that she's "Twuu" and has "pretty eyes." (Lady now forgets to ask me for my proof of insurance card. Which is good because I left it in the car.) We wave and blow kisses as we walk out the door.

10:20 Wild hair on my part causes me to drive toward Pilot Point to look for a park or playground. I see a sign for Jordan Park and keep driving. After at least 30 minutes of driving the road turns into a No Outlet and I see the lake. Hmmm, it appears that Jordan Park is nothing more than a boat ramp. We turn around and head back, stopping at an old abandoned house for a few photos.

11:00 Bug is enjoying running around the yard of the old house but won't stand still long enough for me to snap a photo. I realize that I really need a buddy to be able to snap good photos of an almost 2 year old. We look inside the door of the old house and it's unlocked. I really want to walk through but it's dirty and probably dangerous...plus, it might be trespassing. I don't want to get in trouble, so I close the door and we head home.

11:45 Sonic for lunch and Ladybug has her first soft drink. I drank two big swallows before giving her that sprite. She loved it and wailed when it was empty so this might have been a bad idea.

1:00 After we finish our lunch, we skype with Nana. I propped Bug up on a box in the chair and had myself a high-tech babysitter while I washed the dishes. When she started standing up in the chair and grabbing everything within reach I knew it was time to say good bye.

2:00 Naptime for Bug and chore time for me!

3:45 I hear Bug on the monitor babbling to herself so I run upstairs and rescue her. We have a quick snack and then go outside to wait for T to come home from work.

Saturday Picnic

It's one of those rare Saturdays for me where I'm off and we could spend the day together as a family. The weather was absolutely gorgeous today, 74 degrees, and we took advantage of it by going on a picnic by the lake.

I remember many times as a child my parents would go through the drive-thru to get a bucket of chicken just so that we could eat at the park. So, that's just what we did!

I had no idea that we would see so many ducks there...wish we had brought a loaf of bread with us. But we did save our rolls from the chicken meal and showed Ladybug how to throw the pieces and watch those quackers race for it.

She's now a good little quacker, herself!

Sometimes...

...I browse through my pictures and find one that takes my breath away.

This one did just that.

Ladybug Party

Remember when I mentioned I was obsessively planning a birthday party for a certain little Ladybug? The obsession continues and I can't seem to make it stop! I have googled the same Ladybug sites at least a dozen times looking at the same things that I found the first time. This being said, most of my shopping is complete but yet I'm still looking. (I'm pretty sure this is hereditary.)

I also had a wild hair to make chocolates from a $3 mold that I drove to downtown Dallas for. Ha, what was I thinking...check out my first attempt. These ladybugs lost their spots! I'm glad I decided to practice them first.

I can't wait to share all of the party details in a few weeks.

I'm headed back to the chocolate mold...only good thing about the practice runs is getting to eat the mistakes!

Is there a snow etiquette?

We sure did traipse our way through a couple of neighbors' yards this afternoon and I worried that we were committing a crime by making tracks in other people's snow.

But a little certain buglet did not want to come back inside...

...so, we kept on walking.

Little Teefers

Ladybug is obsessed with brushing her teeth every chance she gets. T and I have been really good about her routine at night and making sure she brushes before bed. But it seems like every time we go into or near the bathroom, no matter what time of day, she's pulling the stepstool up to the sink and stepping up saying, "teeth, teeth."

I oblige and get her brush loaded up with toothpaste and let her "brush"...patiently waiting for several minutes while mustering up the courage to pry the brush out of those little hands.

My girl has some very clean little teefers.

What is that out the window I see?

I see a snow day!

This is actually the worst I've seen the weather around here in years...everything is closed down. I don't ever remember a time when my store actually closed because of weather. Imagine my surprise when I got the call saying not to bother coming in. I couldn't do cartwheels fast enough!

So, what have Ladybug and I been doing today? We've been baking cookies, of course.

She's loves being in the kitchen when we're cooking. But she doesn't want to just stand around on the floor, she wants to be up so she can see exactly what is going on...

...and do a little taste test. This batch of cookies definitely passed the test!
