I'm saving my pennies
I've had my eye on the Bosch Tassimo for several months now. It's a pretty snazzy single cup hot drink maker. When Sears came out with their Christmas Club Card promotion I knew that just in a few short months I was going to have that coffee maker in my kitchen.
Basically, you purchase a special Christmas Club gift card and keep putting money on it at your convenience. On Nov.15, Sears will look at your balance and soon after an extra 3% bonus will magically add to your card! You can also purchase them as regular gift cards too.
I'm half way to my goal...I've just got to decide whether I want the red or black one. Hmmm....

Way back then
I soooo enjoyed my day off today and found some time to scrap and dabble with the sewing machine. I had a little bobbin problem and ended up calling my dad for help, that's right, he's the sewer in my family, not Mom. He walked me through it and I'm finally sewing neat, clean stitches.
It's so fun! I love the stitching on this layout. This picture is a little worn as it's been perched on my dresser for many years. It is the very first picture of Thomas and I together soon after we first met back in '96. <3

Stormy Sunday
I've been working today, a long 12 hour day, and when I left work I noticed how the rainy weather had snuck in on us yet again. The storm wasn't a nice surprise to find but I was delighted to find a yummy dinner that T had cooked when I got home! Rotel Chicken and salad...it was delicious.
He's packing yet again. Tomorrow he leaves for Austin where he'll be until Thursday. I worry a lot when he's gone....plus, I always stay up too late watching TV.
Lately I've also been worried that we're going to get our referral call while he's out of town. Perhaps I need to figure out how to do a 3-way call on my blackberry, just in case. Come on referral! *fingers crossed*
I've no idea what this is...but I found this picture on T's camera when he got back from Lubbock. hehe
Enjoy your week!

Thursday Randomness
*Thomas has been traveling more than usual this week. He went to Amarillo, Lubbock, and Abilene but he'll finally be home Friday. I keep teasing him about writing his own travel blog and calling it "Where in the pork is Tom?"
*I'm concerned about cleaning out Ladybug's closet and dresser. We've been using the closet as storage for the past three years and I'm having trouble finding motivation to start this project. I think I just need a plan for where things are going to go first. I also have my eyes on some kids-size pink Huggable Hangers. <3
*Every time I sit down my Cricket crawls up in my lap. Every time. I feel bad disturbing her when I want to get up and I honestly don't think she ever naps like normal kitties. She's like me and doesn't want to miss out on anything.
*After having another wild hair today, I went shopping and bought a sewing machine. Nothing fancy, just a small one to dabble with. I spent hours trying to bobbin and thread it. My first stitch was quite impressive!

More Scrap Happy
Another quick layout celebrating our New Orleans trip. I love this picture, just wish I had been in it too!
I recycled a used dryer sheet, straight out of the dryer, and sprayed it with a little Glimmer Mist. Mimosa is my current favorite Glimmer Mist color! I'm hoping Santa brings me more! I also used a fun Magpie Club sketch for this layout.

Berry-licious
That domesticated wild hair struck me again this week and I spent the afternoon backing these delicious blackberry bars:
I found the recipe here on Smitten Kitchen.
They were delightful! I'm pretty sure it's because of the fresh blackberries that were picked with love. Thanks Dad.
Enjoy the weekend,
Deana

me + you
There's finally some news about baby referrals. They've sent referrals to those dated March 28, 2006. We have missed this round by one day. I kind of knew this was going to happen, so I'm sad but not really suprised.
I'm really glad we took our little trip to New Orleans.
I wondered if this was our last trip with just me + you?
Yep, yep! Cause WE ARE NEXT !!
I can finally say that!

It can't be...
but I suppose it is.
My last day of vacation.
It's been a great last day:
T and I met Nikki for brunch at the Breadwinners Cafe in Plano.
It was really good, and possibly our new favorite place.
T took a nap all afternoon, and I cleaned up the DVR by watching all the shows that I missed this week...
while scrapping, of course.
p.s. We both have some sort of bug. No fever, just sore throats and runny noses. :(

Going home...
We're headed back to Texas friday morning. But not until we stop by The Watermelon Patch for shoes.
A girl's got to have another pair of her favorite Yellowbox flip flops!
I'm going to pick out a cute pair as a little happy for Nikki too! Sshh.
It's been a fun and whirlwind busy week. I'm ready to get back home to catch up on laundry and snuggle with my Cricket. I know she's wondering where we are.

New Orleans in pictures
We've had such a great time exploring New Orleans. My favorite part was definitely the beignets at Cafe du Monde. We missed a parade on Sunday by just a few minutes, but Thomas did manage to catch one strand of beads. I was so excited and wore them proudly. The next day while we were exploring down in the French Quarter and Bourbon street, we saw beads hanging off the street signs and on the street light wires. T took his umbrella and coaxed some strands down. Yay! Oh yes, and rain most of the day.
We rode the streetcar around town. More rain. Got lost trying to figure out which streetcar to take back to find our car! We eventually made it back. All wet and hot. Rain, rain, go away.
We drove through the cemetary. I have never seen one quite like this before. Evidently, they cannot bury their loved ones in the ground because it's below sea level. The cemetaries were full of these above ground mosoleums.
After having beignets two days in a row, my new favorite was visiting the Mardi Gras World Museum. This is where they build the floats for all the different parades held at Mardi Gras time. It would be fun to go to a parade during Mardi Gras.
We're leaving New Orleans in the morning. My parents came up to spend some time with us here and now we're all going to convoy to Mississippi and visit family.
We'll be headed back to Dallas maybe Friday or Saturday. Our week is going by so fast.

New Orleans or bust
We hit the road yesterday about 11 am. Not as early as we'd hoped, but I didn't have a day off this past week to get packed. No worries though, it's vacation! Who needs a watch or a schedule?!
We stopped quite a few times along the route. Of course, we had to get a car wash. Although, a lot of good that did us, it rained on us while driving through the entire state of Louisiana.
Have you heard of Natchitoches? Thomas has. Evidently, they are famous for meat pies and we had to stop and try one. Of course, he gets the most spicy meat pie he could find! Wow, was it hot!
Our last stop was in Breaux Bridge where we had a catfish sandwich for dinner. This place was pretty good, Crazy Bbout Crawfish. We noticed everyone's accents and T teased me about mine changing after we cross that Mississippi bridge.
It was a long day, 11 hours in the car, and I was so ready to finally get here. Our GPS had bit the dust and we noticed this after just starting out on the drive. Our plans today are to explore New Orleans and buy a new GPS. We might better get that GPS first.~
Enjoy your day!
