Potty 101

I've been reading about all the potty training signs and I think I'm ready for her to be ready. On the other hand, I kind of want to keep her in diapers because she's still my baby and our family age is only 14 months.

I also have to keep reminding myself that she was so far behind when we brought her home. She couldn't hold her head up for long periods of time and she didn't sit up very well either. Walking began around 19 months. She still doesn't eat completely by herself with the fork at every meal.

Oh, and then I hear about all the other babies her age that are doing soooo great on the potty. So, I get her ready by buying a few pair of cute toddler panties, that are really too big because her butt is so tiny, and a pink potty chair. It plays music people. ~ She loves to slam the back down and use it as a step stool to brush her teeth every day. But that's about all the action it gets.

I'm a mother, I want her to catch up and stay caught up. I want her to be an over-achiever. I just want her to pee on the potty one time!

I brought my concerns up to the doctor when we went for her 2 year old visit. He gave me a pretty hard core lecture to let it go and quit worrying about all the other babies and what they were doing on the potty. I said, "But some of these babies are China dolls and adopted at the same time." He assured me that it was okay and that every baby is different and to quit keeping tabs.

I'm trying....but quit keeping tabs? Hrmph, never.

I forced my oldest out of diapers and we are STILL having issues....he'll be 13 in June. He is on miralax or flax oil...depends on what we are doing. As a mom I'll regret it (probably my whole life!) Am I the cause of his "issues" ?? Did my potty training eagerness cause his issues...don't know...but I'll always wonder....
I made my blog private, so if you want access just lmk :)

She will learn soon enough how to use the potty. Try not to stress about that Deana, she will let you know when she is ready.

We must let time take its course .... we say that children can not do everything at once: walk, talk and be clean. Marissa will quickly understand and use her pretty pink potty properly. Kisses

Sorry, my comment didn't send yesterday so will try to remember all the words of wisdom I said. LOL
Deana as your Mom said, don't stress it. You will learn my seeing you using the big potty (not the pink one). If you see her put her hand down there, take her to her potty and she will caught on. Sometimes we try to rush our children to do what some of the other kids do, but in the long run, the kids that learn not to stress on small matters succeed in life better. You and Marty are doing great things for our grandchild and are great parents. You can see the love she has for you both. This is not what I wrote yesterday (a senior moment and a night sleep.

From one Hubei Mommy to another. Don't stress it and it will happen in it's own time. Sometimes it takes some longer than others. I know this from experience with Jencie. Let me know if you want more info on this.

I was worried about all the things you have mentioned too, Hannah was interested in the potty until it came time to actually start potty training, Now she wants nothing to do with it. I figured when she is ready she will let me know. She still will NOT climb. I watch my niece who is 3 months younger climb on folding chairs, couches and so on. But she is so smart in other things. Anyway I know what your going through, but our girls are just going to be better at other things. :)
