I love her open mouth smiles the most

I love our Sundays together as a family too. We played at the park today after lunch and Ladybug didn't want to leave! I am so thankful to only be working about one Sunday a month now...at the old job I was working ALL the Sundays.

Do you see how her little head of hair gets so sweaty when we're outside? It's like that even if we're doing errands too. I'm pretty sure she's going to be hot natured. I haven't trimmed her hair but I'm feeling the pressure from T. So far I've managed to avoid those scissors.

Happy Sunday,
Deana

Oh yes she Can

Ladybug's never been given any type of soda but she certainly watches us and knows exactly what to do with that can! It's not open, I had left it there and got distracted. She pretended to drink it the rest of the afternoon.

At 18 months

Ladybug is 18 months today! What a great month we've had!

She finally drank from a straw which seemed like a huge milestone to me. We were shopping in Target one day and I stuck my drink with a straw up to her thinking she'd just chew on it but she actually drank some of my sprite. Imagine my surprise! She's been a big fan of any drinks with straws from that point on. Plus, we're having much better luck with the straw sippy cups.

She can show you her ears, nose and toes. She still knows the eyes too...when you ask to see her pretty eyes, she blinks at you.

Her new words this month are get and hungry. She'll try to reach for something and say get over and over until she gets it. Usually from me handing it to her. She also loves making sounds like the cow and pig!

Ladybug is so observant. She looked at T's shirt one day and said puppy. Well, it was actually a calf but she noticed it! It's hard to hide anything from her. We have a difficult time keeping remotes, phones, and cameras out of her reach. She hears the garage door opener and will squeal with excitement before either Mama or Dada even come in the door.

She still isn't walking yet and I've quit being obsessively worried about it. I mean she could barely hold her head up when we got her at 11 months old! She's always standing around the sofa and her toys and I've seen her stand up in the middle of the floor too. Every now and then she'll let go and take a step or two towards something and it's almost like she dives to it. I get excited every time I see that! Everyone's saying don't rush it, it'll happen and then I won't be able to keep up with her. So I'm going to trust those words of wisdom.

Ladybug's still wearing size 12 months clothes and size 2 shoes. Her little butt is also still in those 2-3 diapers and they are so hard to find! We weighed her in today at a whopping 21 pounds. There's not much difference in her size from this month to last but she has a mouth full of teeth. I counted 11 of them!

Happy 18 months sweet baby girl!

Around and Around

We ran across this little merry-go-round ride while having lunch Sunday afternoon. Ladybug didn't laugh or smile during the ride but she didn't dislike it either. She did keep looking for me on her way around.

I'm noticing that I need to get out from behind the camera more!

At the Fair

We loaded up and went to the North Texas State Fair late on Saturday evening. We waited as long as we could because it was just so hot outside. I had entered a couple of photos in their amateur photography contest and was interested in looking at all the other entries. I also wanted to see if I had won! Imagine my surprise to see 2nd place ribbons on the photos. When looking around at all of the other photos....every single photo had a ribbon! I guess it wasn't really a contest.

Ladybug went to her very first petting zoo. She wasn't too thrilled about standing near the animals to pet them. She wanted to sit down and crawl around with them!

Our last stop was the midway to play one little game with Ladybug. With a nudge from us, she chose to pick a duck and win a prize every time. The game attendant was very nice and showed her which duck to pick up. (Having a cute kid comes with perks!) She won the Large prize and walked away with her very own stuffed fish!

It's been a fun weekend and she actually slept through the night Saturday night. Yay!

Ladybug Rug

Ladybug received a gorgeous crocheted blanket from a family friend! It's such a special item and so much fun! Ladybug loves it! Thank you J, you are so sweet!

We've had a tough few days...I honestly don't think I've had any sleep for the past 2 nights. Bug has been waking up and then wailing-crying these huge crocodile tears...she won't go back to sleep. It's breaking my heart to see her this way.

I'll write more on this soon. Prayers needed!

Happiness is...

...a new fun, colorful "chandelier" in the nook.

Hoping this will inspire some new scrapbook pages!

Enjoy your day,

Rock around the Stool Tonight

It almost feels too soon to allow Ladybug to spend the night with the Grands without us. I'm not going to say I haven't worried and shed a few tears, I definitely have done both. But we did it, she spent the night with Nanny and G-dad last night. Nanny called me this morning and the first words out of my mouth were, "What's wrong?!" Nothing was wrong, they just wanted to say good morning. Whew, thank goodness. It was oh so good to hear her little voice and I think I'm going to be just fine.

Meanwhile she's being allowed to do all those things that we forbid....like typing on the computer keyboard. I did enjoy this little video they sent of her on the piano. The last 3 seconds are quite a delight! Hope you make it that far. Oh, and I have no idea why she's not wearing a shirt.~

Horsin' Around

T and Ladybug at a horse show in Fort Worth on Friday. Bug got to meet T's cousins, Russell and Kelly, for the first time. She met a few horses, too.

I had to work but I was picking out Ladybug's clothes for the horse show when this conversation happened:

T: We're going to a horse show, not a fashion show.

me: What's wrong with this outfit?

T: Can't she wear something milder?

Evidently, the outfit was way too colorful. As you can see I relented and she wore something "milder."

Boys...hrmph.

This Guy

He's turning the big 4-0 today! Happy Birthday to my sweet.

We celebrated last night and went to dinner at his choice. Of course he picked seafood at Razzoo's. I had also arranged Coco sitter for the evening. This was the first night we have left Ladybug and gone out with just us. Umm, it was kind of fun....but I honestly think we have more fun when she's with us!

Ring Ring

The conversation usually goes something like this:

"Hi"

"Na na na na"

"Ba ba"

"Da da da da"

Uh Oh

T thought he was smart to turn the end table sideways to keep Ladybug out of there. But she can outsmart us everytime. And not only did she find her way in, she let Cricket in too! They caused quite a little mess.

Yep, those are scrapbooking goodies...

p.s. Our case worker is coming by to do our 6 month adoption update at our home in the morning. I'm nervous!

Sunday with the Grands

We spent the afternoon in Sulphur Springs visiting Nanny and G-Dad.

A little lunch, some shopping, and a trip to the ice cream parlor.

What more could a little ladybug want?

Girls Night Out

It's been awhile since I've gone out with just the girls. Ladybug stayed home with T, but she really took to Lori so we added her in the picture. We had a great evening last night!

Capturing the Moment

I'm cooking supper tonight...yes, my least favorite chore. Truth is, I've gotten out of it for at least the past two weeks so my time is due. Next time I'm going to fix sandwiches...instead of spaghetti. Much easier.

T took Bug outside for a few minutes in attempts to entertain that inner grump bunny away. I'm pretty positive she's teething...again. I snuck away from the stove to take a peek at them...

... and it definitely made me smile.

Bubbles, Bubbles Everywhere

We had celebration bubbles Monday night after I got home from work. The little Kai-Lan bubble machine was a big hit with Ladybug! So much fun!

Sunday Funday

We spent our morning at the pool and then our afternoon doing a little shopping. We also stopped by Coffee N Cream to see Chef Coco at work. It's a lovely little store and definitely worth checking out. The coffee was fantastic.

Happy Birthday to Mimi and Marshall ! Hope your day was special !
